Ezri Konsa: Aston Villa may have ‘eye on replacement’ after source’s transfer update – pundit

A lot of teams would be interested if Aston Villa made Ezri Konsa available for transfer this summer.

That is the view of former Premier League striker Kevin Campbell, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about the 24-year-old’s future at Villa Park.

Konsa has been one of the first names on the team-sheet since joining the Midlands club from Brentford in July 2019.

A Villa source told Football Insider (25 February) that the club will listen to offers for the centre-back this summer.

It is understood that Steven Gerrard is not convinced by the reliability and consistency of the Englishman.

His contract runs until the summer of 2026.

When asked by Football Insider for his thoughts on Konsa’s future, Campbell said: “Konsa has done really well for Aston Villa.

“He’s been a revelation since they’ve got back into the Premier League. He has a long-term contract so I’m sure he’s very happy where he is.

“I’m sure a lot of teams would be interested in him if he was to be made available. But he’s under contract until 2026 so Villa don’t have to do nothing if they don’t want to. He is their player.

“The question is, does the manager want to change him? That is the only way I can see him leaving. I think he’s done really well but perhaps Steven Gerrard has his eye on someone else or a replacement. That would be the only reason for him to leave Aston Villa.”

In other news, a finance guru has claimed Aston Villa will be thrilled by a ‘huge boost’ as £400million deal on the cards.
