Ezri Konsa: Ex-Fifa official lambasts Aston Villa star for conduct ‘beyond anything I’ve seen’ against Leeds

Keith Hackett has slammed Ezri Konsa after he was sent off when Aston Villa drew with Leeds United on Wednesday.

The ex-FIFA and Premier League referee, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, couldn’t believe what he saw from the Villa defender.

Konsa, 24, picked up two yellow cards as his side drew 3-3 with Leeds on Wednesday (9 February).

The second yellow card was given after he impeded Illan Meslier as he attempted to throw the ball out after claiming a cross.

Hackett labelled Konsa’s actions “beyond anything I have seen for a while” and insists he gave the referee no choice.

“It’s total and utter indiscipline,” Hackett told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.

“Where do you start with this, it’s beyond anything I have seen.

“You look at it and think the referee must be beside himself. He’s trying to officiate the game as well as he can and he’s faced with that.

“This is nonsense, I’m not sure what Konsa was expecting.

“He gave the referee no choice but to give him a second yellow, he knew he was on a booking.

“I just don’t get why he’s done it. That’s twice he’s been sent off this season now and this latest one is really poor.”

Villa are next in action against Newcastle on Sunday (13 February).

Konsa will miss this game due to the suspension he picked up against Leeds.
