Fabio Silva will leave Rangers this summer after ‘huge’ development – expert

Rangers will not look to buy Fabio Silva permanently this summer.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, former Aston Villa and Gers defender Alan Hutton was adamant that Silva, 21, would not stay at Ibrox as he has been “very inconsistent”.

The forward joined the Glasgow giants on a six-month loan deal from Premier League side Wolves in January and has bagged just four goals across 19 games in all competitions.

He has had plenty of chances to prove himself at the club having started 12 games in all competitions, but he has been outscored by the frequently criticised Cyriel Dessers this term.

Fabio Silva has not justified permanent Rangers move – Hutton

Hutton claimed that Silva’s price tag would be too “huge” considering the reported £35million Wolves spent on him in 2020 and suggested his time under Philippe Clement will end soon.

“I’m not sure if he will stay,” he told Football Insider.

“I’ve seen flashes of what he’s capable of and I think he’s been very inconsistent.

“It has been brought to light with his diving and different things – I don’t like that because he needs to stay on his feet more.

“He has a lot of ability, there’s no doubt about that.

“Does he need more time to settle in? I’m not so sure.

“He’s had plenty of time to do that and he’s played lots of minutes.

“This is a guy who was bought for a huge £35million, so instantly you want him to hit the ground running with goals and assists.

“It’s not come to fruition and a permanent move would come down to the fee.

“For those reasons, I don’t see it happening.”
