Leeds fans on Twitter demand fresh deal for senior man after Norwich stalemate

Garry Monk may have taken charge of his last game at Elland Road – but fans on Twitter want him signed up immediately.

The 38-year-old saw his side narrowly miss out on promotion to the Premier League with a 3-3 draw with Norwich on Saturday, despite a spirited second-half comeback.

But although Leeds failed to go the distance in their bid for promotion this term, fans are still adamant to see Monk land a new deal at the club beyond the current season.

Monk is out of contract at the end of the season, meaning the upcoming clash with Wigan on the final day could be his last in charge of the Championship side.

Fans took to Twitter following the game to set aside their disappointment and besiege the club hierarchy to sort out Monk’s contract situation at the earliest opportunity.

Here is a selection of their messages on Twitter:

Regardless of their late disappointment, Monk has done wonders at Leeds this season, transforming them from a club in uncertainty to a genuine promotion threat.

But Monk revealed earlier this week, as quoted by Yorkshire Evening Post reporter Lee Sobot, that he is to sit down with Leeds chiefs in June and discuss the next step forward for the club.

That should, hopefully ease the growing concerns among the Leeds supporters over the future of their manager, but until a new contract is finalised, they will keep knocking on Andrea Radrizzani’s door.
