Farhad Moshiri is now ready to sell Everton after statement – ‘it’s big news’, says pundit

Farhad Moshiri is considering selling Everton amid an update on a possible bid.

That’s according to former Rangers and Scotland boss Alex McLeish, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about the Toffees’ future.

The Financial Times reported on 29 September that Farhad Moshiri is in advanced talks to sell Everton for “around £400m” to Maciek Kaminski.

Everton

Moshiri released a statement on 14 July insisting that the club is not for sale but that he may welcome minority investment.

That came against the backdrop of a consortium fronted by Peter Kenyon and financed by Kaminski trying to buy the club.

McLeish claims now may be the right time to sell the club.

“Everton have been down there for a couple of years now,” McLeish told Football Insider’s Ben Wild.

“The value of the club has not been high. They are talking about £400million, how much was the Newcastle takeover? £300million, I think.

“So it’s more expensive but you think about the new stadium coming and how well they are doing this season as well.

“You might say there is no better time to sell in terms of value. Does Moshiri want to get rid of the club? He wouldn’t be in talks if he didn’t want to so maybe there is a deal to be done there.

“It would certainly be big news for Everton and I think the fans want it.”

Everton

Everton have posted combined losses of over £370m across the last three years, with £170m of that figure attributed to lost income because of the pandemic.

Current financial fair play rules state that clubs can lose no more than £105m over three seasons.

In other news, a medical expert has claimed Nathan Patterson may be out longer than Everton letting on amid ‘serious concern’.
