Farhad Moshiri wants ‘£50m’ payment to leave Everton – Keith Wyness

Everton’s former chief Keith Wyness has revealed Farhad Moshiri wants a “one-off payment of £50million” to leave the club for good.

Speaking on the new edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, the 66-year-old – who served as CEO at Goodison Park between 2004 and 2009 and now runs a football consultancy advising elite clubs – claimed yearly performance-based payments to the Toffees owner are also expected to be agreed as part of a takeover.

Everton have now seen takeovers from 777 Partners and The Friedkin Group fall through in the last year, plunging the club back into uncertainty.

Moshiri initially invested at Goodison Park in February 2016 and raised his shareholding to 94% in January 2022.

The Toffees have recorded losses in six successive years, including a deficit of £89.1million for the 2022-23 campaign.

Wyness told Football Insider‘s Insider Track podcast: “I’ve heard from my sources Moshiri wants a one-off payment of £50million.

“When I was at Aston Villa, Randy Lerner lost a significant amount of his investment.

“It’s not an uncommon thing in football. As is always said, if you want to become a millionaire in football then start with £100million.

“Sure enough, that’s where Moshiri is right now.

“There could be bonus payments based on performance and staying in the Premier League, I’d expect something like that to be structured.

“He’s going to have to accept a pretty big haircut in terms of investment because the problems he’s caused are at his door.

“He can’t expect someone to come along and fix the mess he’s made.”
