Fashion Sakala tipped for new Rangers role after journalist’s update – Hutton
Alan Hutton has insisted there are “still question marks” around Fashion Sakala’s place in the Rangers team.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Gers defender said the 25-year-old will be a squad player and is unlikely to get regular game time this season.
The Zambia international started the Bears’ Premier Sports Cup game against Queen of the South on Tuesday (30 August).
The forward played 88 minutes in the 3-1 win to secure the side a place in the last 16.
Sakala has made just two appearances for Giovanni van Bronckhorst’s side so far this season and is yet to feature in the league.
On 10 August, journalist Lindsay Herron of the Scottish Daily Express reported that Burnley were willing to offer £3million for the forward.
When asked if Sakala will continue to be a squad player for the Ibrox club this season, Hutton told Football Insider: “I think so.
“For me, there’s still question marks over him to be quite honest. He made a mistake for their goal it can happen to anyone. I just mean his overall general play.

“I think for somebody who has that pace you want to see it more. More intelligent running. I think it’s somebody you can call on, off the bench, to make an impact because he has got the pace to go by someone.
“This late in the day I’d be surprised if he was allowed to go because it would leave Rangers quite short up front.“
