Filip Helander next club revealed after confirmed Rangers news – expert

Filip Helander could join Malmo after leaving Rangers.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, former Gers defender Alan Hutton suggested there may be an opportunity for Helander at his former club.

According to footballscotland (29 May), the 30-year-old has been offered the chance to train with former club Malmo following his departure from Rangers.

The defender leaves the Glasgow club having not played a minute of competitive football this season as a result of injury.

Helander only featured for the Gers ten times in the 2021-22 season, again as a result of injury.

Malmo, the club where the defender started his career, have offered him the chance to train with them this summer as he plots his next move.

When asked what Helander’s next move should be, Hutton told Football Insider:It is a difficult one because we have not seen much of him which has been a shame.

When he was playing in the first team you could see that his reading of the game was very good and I think you have to play week in week out to be at the top of your game.

I think that if anything he missed a yard of pace which was perhaps his one downfall.

If he goes back somewhere he feels comfortable, he is over his injury problems, kicks on and does a pre-season there might be an opportunity for him there.

Everybody wants to play at the highest level the only problem is that he has not played a lot of football recently.
