Newcastle United fans are fearing the club may be forced to sell Liverpool target Anthony Gordon or risk losing him for free.

This comes after reports claimed the winger has just two years left on his deal at St James' Park, having signed a three-and-a-half year deal when he joined from Everton.

Should he not agree to new terms before then, the summer of 2025 will be the last opportunity for Newcastle to cash in or risk losing him for free.

Gordon has been a vital part of Eddie Howe's squad since joining in January 2023, making 64 appearances for the club, scoring 13 goals and providing 11 assists.

This form has attracted interest from some of England's top clubs, as Football Insider revealed that a move to join Liverpool could still happen in the coming weeks.

Liverpool push hard to sign Newcastle star Anthony Gordon

Newcastle fans had been confident of hanging on to their star player after the club avoided profit and sustainability issues by selling Elliot Anderson and Yankuba Minteh.

However, sources say Gordon's head has been turned by Liverpool's "concrete interest" in signing him before the window closes.

After the latest contract update, fans now think an exit is inevitable whether it comes before the end of this month or next summer.
