Aston Villa are poised to sign Kortney Hause from Wolves after he agreed the terms of a £30,000-a-week deal, Football Insider understands.

The defender, 23, made a big impression at the newly-promoted Midlands giants following his move in January on a loan-to-buy deal.

A Villa source has told Football Insider the club will trigger the option to convert his loan into a permanent transfer after settling a long-term contract worth more than £1.5million-a-year.

The fee will be around £3million for a player who Dean Smith and his coaching staff are convinced has genuine pedigree as well as plenty of room for development.

Hause was one of the loan stars so critical to the successful end to the campaign and he is set to be joined at the club permanently by winger Anwar El Ghazi as he completes a permanent move from Lille.

Villa have already completed the £4million capture of Jota from Birmingham City, with midfielder Gary Gardner heading the other way in a part-exchange deal.

Hause has made 12 appearances for Villa, including nine consecutive league starts, although he was only a substitute for their three play-off games.

Capped by England at Under-21 international, he can play at centre-back or full-back and has made 80 Wolves appearances as well as had spells in the lower leagues with Gillingham and Wycombe Wanderers.
