
Oxlade-Chamberlain makes public admission after Arsenal defeat

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain has publicly apologised to Arsenal fans after what he admitted was an “unacceptable” 3-1 defeat to West Brom at the Hawthorns on Saturday.
The 23-year-old featured in all 90 minutes of the Premier League setback which has left a huge dent in Arsenal’s hopes of qualifying for next season’s Champions League.
West Brom took the lead early on through Craig Dawson before Alexis Sanchez quickly responded to level the scores.
In the second half, Hal Robson-Kanu put Arsene Wenger’s side behind before Dawson grabbed his second to double Albion’s lead.
Two planes were flown over the Hawthorns during the match, both with contradictory messages about Wenger’s future at the club.
Oxlade-Chamberlain is also under-fire from the Gunners faithful and his future at the Emirates has come into doubt over the last few weeks.
“We have to apologise to the fans. That was not acceptable,” said Oxlade-Chamberlain after the match, as quoted by the Daily Mirror’s John Cross on his personal Twitter account.
The ex-Southampton winger has made 37 appearances in all competitions for Arsenal this season and has contributed with six goals and seven assists in the process.
The north London club remain five points behind the Champions League places in fifth place.
However things could get a lot worse for Wenger’s side as emphatic victories for both Manchester United and Everton could mean they will finish the week in seventh place.
