Arguably the most gifted technical footballer Scotland has ever produced.

Baxter won ten trophies in five years at Ibrox as he showcased talents rarely seen anywhere in football before a leg break and rapid decline saw Baxter struggle at Sunderland and Nottingham Forest before returning to Ibrox a shadow of the player who left.

“Slim Jim” famously did keepy-uppy against then world champions England at Wembley in 1967 as Scotland triumphed 3-2.

With fans such as Sir Alex Ferguson, Pele and Ferenc Puskas, Baxter’s legend on the pitch is only outshone by tales of him off it
