2. Ashley v King
You could put any of the boardroom squabbles in here but Ashley v King gets the nod if only for how childishly petty it got.
After a string of legal threats between the pair over the club’s ownership and retail deal, Ashley demanded King be arrested for breaching an injunction gagging him speaking about the relationship between the club and Ashley’s Sports Direct.
King wouldn’t be arrested and after boycotts, court cases, public slanging matches and statements from the Board, things came to what appears to be amicable solution.
That could change imminently with the revised retail deal due to end soon but for now, things look settled.
