Forget Ramsdale: Pundit reveals why ex-Celtic star Tierney should be named new Arsenal captain
Kieran Tierney should be named as the new Arsenal captain following Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang’s demotion.
That’s according to former Leeds United stopper Paddy Kenny, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about who should take the role.
Arsenal confirmed in a statement on Tuesday (14 December) Aubameyang is no longer club captain after a disciplinary breach last week.

Mikel Arteta told club media he will now rely on his “leadership group” but the appointment of the next captain is “really important”.
Kenny claims Tierney should be given the captaincy ahead of Aaron Ramsdale after his own experience at Leeds.
“Tierney is the one I would go for,” Kenny told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.
“I was captain at Leeds once, it was in a League Cup game before the season started, it fell at a weird time.
“We beat Shrewsbury 4-0 and the manager couldn’t decide if I should be given the club captaincy.
“Eventually he gave it someone else and told me it was just because he likes his captain in the middle of the pitch.
“A goalkeeper can struggle to get involved and see what is going on, on the far side of the pitch.
“You can’t get in the refs face. That’s important for me, which is why I wouldn’t choose Ramsdale.

“Looking through that squad, there aren’t many options are there?
“For me, it has to be Tierney, he’s the obvious choice. He’s very consistent and never seems to get himself in trouble, unlike Aubameyang.”
