Shocking decision: King had three huge reasons to have kept Caixinha at Rangers
COMMENT By James Black
Rangers have sacked manager Pedro Caixinha after seven months in charge at Ibrox.
The Gers confirmed the decision in a statement posted on the club’s official website on Thursday afternoon.
Rangers find themselves in fourth place in the Scottish Premiership – eight points behind leaders Celtic – and have had a series of embarrassing results under the 46-year-old’s management.
Caixinha was appointed on a three-year deal in March, replacing Mark Warburton as manager, and quickly set about trying to restore the Gers to the top of Scottish football.
Poor home results have been a consistent feature of Caixinha’s time in charge at Ibrox with the Light Blues failing to rack up three consecutive wins since before Caixinha’s appointment.
Chairman Dave King and the Rangers board felt a change was necessary after the club’s poor start to the season.
With this shocking decision, Rangers had a number of huge reasons to stick with Caixinha and give him time to see out his aims and here, we at Football Insider take a look at why he shouldn’t have been sacked so early in the campaign.
