Five Man United stars ‘don’t want to work’ for Erik ten Hag – ‘It’s embarrassing’, says pundit

Man United stars Bruno Fernandes, Scott McTominay, Marcus Rashford, Antony and Anthony Martial “do not want to play” for Erik ten Hag.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, former West Ham and Celtic striker Frank McAvennie destroyed the players in the wake of their 2-1 Premier League defeat to Fulham on Saturday (24 February).

Ten Hag has been under immense scrutiny amid the club’s tumultuous season while his squad have been widely criticised for lacklustre performances and failing to do what is expected of Man United players.

The on-field antics of captain Fernandes, who is often seen complaining to referees, have been blasted while the off-field actions of Rashford were put in the spotlight last month.

McAvennie has singled out five United stars with attitudes he feels the club “don’t need” and suggested that the character of many members of the squad is a major cause of their on-field troubles.

“They’ve not got good enough players,” he told Football Insider.

“Ten Hag has players there that do not want to work.

“Antony, Anthony Martial – these boys do not want to work for the club or play for the manager.

“Scott McTominay fights tooth and nail for Scotland, but he doesn’t for Man United.

“The captain, Bruno Fernandes, he’s a bad example of a captain.

“He’s punching the ground and arguing with referees and everyone – it’s embarrassing for the captain of Man United to do that.

“You can’t imagine Roy Keane doing that, but what are you doing Fernandes?

“Rashford [against Luton Town] – he’s just jogging around and not putting a tackle in.

“It was an embarrassment, it was really terrible.

“These are the kind of players that they don’t need at Man United.”
