Frank Lampard: Everton tipped to ‘really take off’ by pundit who met ‘brilliant’ new manager
Frank Lampard will keep Everton in the Premier League before leading the club’s long-term project.
That’s according to former West Ham hitman Frank McAvennie, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about the “brilliant” manager.
Everton beat fellow strugglers Leeds United 3-0 on Saturday (12 February) in a boost to their survival hopes.
On 11 February, McAvennie predicted the Toffees would be victorious against the Whites.
He likes what he has seen from Lampard in person and predicted he can lead the club into a new era.
“I said last week Everton would have no problem beating Leeds,” McAvennie told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.
“Lampard knows what he is doing in these big games. He’s brilliant, I really rate him as a manager.
“I’ve met him a few times and I was so impressed. You can just tell how much he loves football and how much he cares.
“He will have no problem keeping Everton up then it’s all about what he can do in the summer.
“I think it’s a great appointment, I really do. He needs a long-term project after only being at Derby and Chelsea for a few years.
“I’m looking forward to seeing how he does because he’s a great boy and I still don’t think Chelsea should have sacked him.
“Everton could really take off under Lampard, I believe that.”

Everton have seen significant investment in their playing squad since Farhad Moshiri took over the club in February 2016.
The club is currently building a new stadium at Bramley-Moore Docks which is set to open at the start of the 2024-25 season.
