Frank Lampard lauded by pundit after Everton dressing room reveal
Frank McAvennie has hailed Frank Lampard’s decision to impose a fines system at Everton to improve discipline.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former West Ham striker is a “great believer” in clubs setting standards for their players.
As reported by The Guardian (19 October), Lampard has introduced a fines system and player leadership group at Goodison Park to maintain standards.

The 44-year-old had a similar system when he managed Chelsea that included a £20,000 punishment for being late for training.
The Toffees boss didn’t introduce the rules last season as his side fought relegation but the players are said to be happy with the extra discipline this season.
Lampard said the right fines system can help keep the balance between “confidence, progression and complacency”.
McAvennie backed Lampard’s decision.
“I think everybody should be fined for breaking the rules,” he told Football Insider.
“There has got to be a system. If I was the manager I would have it that if anyone’s phone rings whilst they’re at the club they get a fine. Or if you walk into the club on your phone you are fined.

“When you are with your teammates you should all be together as part of the team. In England everyone is walking around like superstars with headphones in like they do not want to talk to their teammates.
“There are little things like if you are late to the training ground, you will get fined. I am a great believer in that. There has got to be standards and you have got to set your limits.“
