Frank Lampard: Pundit can’t believe what he’s heard from some Everton fans

Frank Lampard will keep Everton in the Premier League this season.

That’s according to former West Ham hitman Frank McAvennie, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about the Toffees’ continued struggles in the league.

Everton sit 16th in the Premier League table, just two points off the relegation zone.

Lampard has lost two of his three league games in charge of the Toffees with the latest loss coming at the hands of Southampton on Saturday (19 February).

However, McAvennie is convinced Everton aren’t in relegation trouble and insists fans don’t need to worry.

“The guy has barely been in there,” McAvennie told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.

“He’s been in there for about a month and I’m already seeing criticism from fans of Everton and other clubs.

“He’s trying to find his best squad which is why we are seeing some players come back into the fold.

“It’s never easy to take over a club right in the middle of the season like he has done.

“You have to give him time, he probably still doesn’t know who his people are.

“He will want to make massive changes behind the scenes as well as on the pitch.

“He’s dealing with players who have not been playing to the best of their ability all season.

“My god some of the things you read, really? He’s been there three weeks, give him some time to get his feet under the table before you criticise him.

“I wouldn’t worry if I was an Everton fan.”

Everton fans cheering

Everton are next in action against Manchester City on Saturday (26 February).

They then face a midweek FA up clash against Boreham Wood on Thursday (3 March).

In other news, Everton have a ‘brilliant’ player who can cross like Alexander-Arnold according to one pundit.
