Frank Lampard ‘worried’ as Newcastle handed ‘massive boost’ pre-Everton – pundit
Noel Whelan has insisted the imminent return of Joelinton will be a “massive boost” for Newcastle against Everton.
The former Leeds striker, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, claimed the 25-year-old’s midfield presence will be a “worrying thought” for Toffees boss Frank Lampard.
Joelinton missed Newcastle’s last two games against Chelsea and Southampton through injury.

Speaking after Sunday’s loss against Chelsea (13 March) and quoted by the Shields Gazette, Eddie Howe revealed the Brazillian was “close” to returning against the Blues – in a positive update ahead of the game against Everton on Thursday (17 March).
The former Hoffenheim has excelled in a new midfield role since Howe’s arrival in November.
Whelan hailed Joelinton’s impact, claiming he brings “so much” to the Magpies midfield.
He told Football Insider‘s Ewan Kingsbury: “He’s been the most improved player at Newcastle, for me.
“Moving him into that midfield area has given them so much. Power, strength, technical ability, aggression – and he’s got a really forward-thinking mentality.
“He links up play even better than he was when he was playing upfront.
“It’s worrying for Frank Lampard to think about having to deal with him in midfield and that newly resilient defence in behind him.
“It’s a massive boost for Newcastle and they will only be looking up the table now.”

Joelinton has scored 12 goals in 107 games for the Tyneside club since joining in July 2019.
The 25-year-old cost Newcastle a reported club-record £40million.
