Frank Lampard’s chances of being shock saviour at Manchester United as Ruben Amorim sack inevitable
Frank Lampard could be the perfect man to step in and save Manchester United in the coming months.
The Red Devils’ recent resurgence in the Premier League has temporarily lifted some of the scrutiny away from Ruben Amorim, but Monday night’s defeat against 10-man Everton was a stark reminder of the weaknesses that still remain.
Amorim’s position at Manchester United has come under further scrutiny in the aftermath of that defeat, as he has now lost more Premier League games for the club than Jose Mourinho, despite having taken charge of over 50 fewer games.
With the walls quickly closing in on the Portuguese, Lampard is certainly one of the more unlikely candidates who are in the running to take over, but there are plenty of positives in his name.

Frank Lampard would be excellent fit for Man United as odds revealed
Lampard did an excellent job in transforming Coventry into play-off contenders over the course of last season, and they now look ready to go one better this time around.
The Sky Blues are sitting top of the Championship at the 17-game mark, and have already built up a staggering 10-point lead on their closest challengers at this stage.
The Midlands outfit seem destined for a first top-flight campaign since 2000-01, and Lampard’s fingerprints are all over their recent success.
| Club | Games | W | D | L | Win % |
| Coventry City | 52 | 30 | 9 | 13 | 57.69% |
| Everton | 44 | 12 | 8 | 24 | 27.27% |
| Chelsea | 84 | 44 | 15 | 25 | 52.38% |
| Derby County | 57 | 26 | 15 | 16 | 45.61% |
Premier League links have already emerged for the former Chelsea and Derby County boss in recent months, and he now finds himself in the running to take over at Old Trafford, with odds priced at 33/1 at the moment.
Lampard often hasn’t received the credit that he deserves for the quality of his management, and although he would be a very leftfield appointment for United, he certainly has plenty of things in his favour.
Although his time in the dugout at Stamford Bridge ultimately ended in sour fashion, he gained valuable experience of leading a ‘top six’ club, and showcased his excellent ability to develop young players.

Both of those abilities would align perfectly with the requirements for a Manchester United manager, especially considering that the expectations for the club are still sky high.
How Sir Alex Ferguson has shaped Frank Lampard’s management
Sir Alex Ferguson remains a legend at Manchester United several years on from his departure from the club, and he played a key role in helping to shape Lampard’s managerial style.
The 47-year-old revealed during an interview with Joe back in 2024 that Ferguson had told him that “recruitment, sleep for yourself, and media” were the three most important aspects of management.
Lampard is undoubtedly a long way from emulating Ferguson’s achievements on the touchline, but the fact that he seemingly swears by the advice that he previously received from the United great will surely stand him in good stead moving forward.
