Frenkie de Jong: Door opens for Man United to complete signing after ‘agreement’ – Sources

Long-term admirers Man United and Chelsea are well-placed to land Barcelona star Frenkie de Jong, sources have told Football Insider.

It has been widely reported that Barca will look to sell the 26-year-old in the summer window.

A well-placed source has told Football Insider that the Catalan giants will be forced to sell key stars if they are to make their own signings this term.

It is believed Barcelona’s stance on allowing De Jong to leave is a real opening for top Premier League sides.

Man United and Chelsea are long-term admirers of the Netherlands international and have made attempts to bring him to England in the past.

Indeed, United agreed a fee with Barcelona in the summer of 2022 before a deal collapsed after extensive negotiations.

The midfielder has made 26 appearances so far in the 2023-24 campaign, notching one goal.

He came through the ranks at Ajax before leaving for Barcelona in 2019 for a reported fee of £65million.
