Frimpong and Diaz react to Harvey Elliott’s message amid Liverpool exit rumours

Jeremie Frimpong and Luis Diaz have reacted to a message from Harvey Elliott amid talk of his future lying away from Liverpool ahead of the new season.

Elliott struggled to make an impact last term during the Reds’ Premier League title charge, and he could be set to leave the club soon with numerous clubs vying to land his services.

Football Insider recently revealed that Elliott could join a Serie A club this summer after his time spent on the fringes of the Liverpool squad led him to make just two league starts all season.

With rumours rife, Football Insider have also revealed that Elliott is being targeted by former club Fulham this summer, while sources have told Football Insider that Brighton, too, are “confident” of striking a deal for the 22-year-old Reds star.

He has stayed put for now, but an exit certainly seems likely with less than a month until the new Premier League campaign starts, and he has sent a message online in the face of widespread exit links.

Elliott shares Liverpool pre-season update

Former scout Mick Brown told Football Insider on 15 July that Newcastle and Tottenham have both joined the race to sign Elliott this summer, yet a move is seemingly not imminent with him currently on pre-season tour with Arne Slot’s squad.

Liverpool are touring Asia ahead of the new campaign, with fixtures against AC Milan and Yokohama FM to come, and Elliott took to Instagram (23 July) to mark their arrival on the continent with some pictures of him in action along with the caption: “Hong Kong!” and a pin emoji.

His message was reacted to with likes from Frimpong, Diaz, Alexis Mac Allister, Ryan Gravenberch, Curtis Jones and Roberto Firmino, among others, while Conor Bradley left a red heart emoji in the replies.

Football Insider verdict

Football Insider revealed in April that Elliott’s priority is to remain at Liverpool ahead of next season, but he has been frustrated with his lack of action at the club, so it certainly seems likely that he leaves soon to further his own career as the Reds spend big in the summer window.

To add to the aforementioned interested sides, Football Insider recently reported that Wolves are “keen” on a move for Elliott this summer, and it is believed a bid of £40million would prise him from the Merseyside outfit.

Elliott’s Liverpool career stats

He is clearly a player in demand, and while his time at Liverpool has been one of huge success so far in terms of trophies, he has struggled to play a major role in many of their six triumphs since he joined the club back in 2019 from Fulham.

He featured just 28 times in all competitions last season as Slot chose to stick by his more senior players, and his minutes seem unlikely to increase much further in the new campaign, so a move away would surely benefit all parties as he looks to progress in the years to come.
