‘From my sources’ – Nottingham Forest have ‘lined up’ Ange Postecoglou’s replacement

Nottingham Forest have already lined up a potential replacement for Ange Postecoglou at the City Ground.

Postecoglou is under huge pressure at Forest, following an abysmal start to life on Trentside.

The Australian manager has not yet tasted victory with the Tricky Trees, despite being seven games into his tenure.

Nottingham Forest have been talking to a Premier League manager

Everton’s former chief Keith Wyness – who served as CEO at Goodison Park between 2004 and 2009 and now runs a football consultancy advising elite clubs – believes that Postecoglou could be dismissed over the international break, with Nottingham Forest already lining up a replacement.

Speaking on the new edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, Wyness revealed that Marco Silva has been in discussions with Forest and could be set for a move to the City Ground.

Silva’s Fulham exit has been touted for a number of months now, with the 48-year-old unhappy with the club’s recent transfer business.

Wyness added that it could be a good move for all parties.

He told Football Insider‘s Inside Track podcast: “The name I keep hearing is Marco Silva. He is the one being lined up to come in there and replace Ange.

“It’s unlike Marinakis to have made a decision like this and got it wrong and not stick with it, but it is proving to be costly at the moment. It’s just not working out for Big Ange.

“I do feel Marinakis is probably going to have words this week. It’s the international break, the dreaded international break if you’re a manager.

“As I say, it appears from all my sources, certainly, that Marco Silva has been talking, and that could be the move for Forest.

“I think from Fulham’s point of view, that may be a good move as well. He’s been there a long time now, and I think it may need to be refreshed. So that could be a move that could well get done.”

Nottingham Forest have ‘queue’ of managers who want Postecoglou’s job

Meanwhile, Nottingham Forest will have a queue of prospective managers if they sack Postecoglou, sources have told Football Insider.

Sources say that Forest is still a very attractive job prospect, even with the chaos surrounding the club.

The chance to manage in the Premier League and Europa League is a very exciting proposition for many and could cancel out the lack of job security.

If Postecoglou is sacked, then Forest will be looking for their third manager of the season, but are still likely to have a number of interested parties in the role.
