‘From what I hear…’ – Tino Livramento’s stance on Newcastle offer revealed

Newcastle United have endured a difficult start to the season so far, which could be worsened by interest in some of their key players in January.

Eddie Howe‘s side lost 2-1 to Brighton on 18 October, meaning they have now won just two of their opening eight Premier League fixtures and dropped to 13th.

Despite a slow start to the season, Tino Livramento has been spoken about highly both at St James’ Park and elsewhere, with speculation rising about his future.

Livramento was stretchered off against Arsenal, and while there were concerns he may have suffered a significant blow, there are no long-term concerns about his fitness.

As a result, Football Insider revealed on 14 September that Newcastle plan to offer Livramento a new contract to extend his stay in the North East.

Tino Livramento is happy at Newcastle United

Football Insider revealed last month that Newcastle are doing everything to keep Livramento at the club despite interest from top clubs across Europe.

Livramento has quickly become one of the most highly-rated full-backs in the country, and remains a key part of Howe’s plans and ambitions for Newcastle.

That is according to former Man United and Sunderland chief scout Mick Brown, who remains very well-connected within the game, as he exclusively told Football Insider that the England international is happy at St James’ Park and keen to sign a new deal.

Livramento has earned all the plaudits he gets,” he told Football Insider.

“He’s worked very hard to become part of that Newcastle team despite the injuries he’s had, he plays wherever he’s needed and has always done a very good job.

“He’s done the same for England as well and has improved his reputation considerably.

“A lot of that progress has been made since he joined Newcastle, where he clearly has the trust and a good relationship with the manager.

“Of course, when a player is performing at that sort of level consistently, it’s going to attract interest from other clubs who might want to bring him in.

“But from what I hear, Livramento is happy at Newcastle, and I’d expect if there was a new contract on the table for him, he would be keen to stay.

“It’s something that would be the best outcome for all parties if they could get him tied down.

“Not only do Newcastle get to keep a fantastic player, but he can continue and build on the progress he has made there, playing regularly at the top level.”

Football Insider revealed in July that Newcastle would demand more than £80million if they were to listen to offers for Livramento, and have no plans to see him go.

Man City remain interested in signing Livramento

Brown told Football Insider on 8 September that Man City are keeping tabs on Livramento as one of their top targets to strengthen at right-back.

Pep Guardiola is set to prioritise the addition of a new right-back after Kyle Walker‘s move to Burnley which has left them short of options in his position.

The summer window ended without City strengthening in that position, leaving Matheus Nunes in his role as a makeshift full-back under Guardiola.

However, Livramento has long been linked with a move to the Etihad, and their interest in not thought to have faded, with a move still possible in 2026.

That has increased the Magpies’ urgency in contract talks, as they aim to deter interest from elsewhere while committing his long-term future to the club.
