‘From what I hear’: Tottenham plan to accelerate James Trafford transfer after he ‘makes feelings clear’
Tottenham are planning to step up their interest in Man City goalkeeper James Trafford if he is allowed to leave the Etihad this summer.
Trafford, 23, is unhappy playing second-fiddle to Gianluigi Donnarumma and recently made his feelings clear in a revealing interview after their FA Cup win against Salford.
His discontent has led to growing interest from a number of Premier League clubs, including Tottenham, who feel he would be an upgrade on their current options.
Former Spurs scout Mick Brown told Football Insider that Trafford is among the club’s “top targets” this summer if they are to move for a new goalkeeper.
This comes amid growing doubts over the future of Guglielmo Vicario, who is eyeing a return to Italy amid interest from Juventus and Inter Milan.

Tottenham set sights on James Trafford deal
Brown told Football Insider on 25 February that Tottenham are interested in Crystal Palace’s Dean Henderson as one of their options to replace Vicario.
Trafford would represent a younger option than Henderson, with more of a long-term outlook, and is believed to be higher in their estimations.
“Tottenham are looking at a few new goalkeepers,” Brown told Football Insider.
“One who I think is going to be high up on their list is James Trafford, the Man City goalkeeper, because it looks like he might be available.
“He’s not happy at Man City and he’s made that pretty clear, he doesn’t want to be a number two, so a move to Tottenham could be a good opportunity.
“Trafford is still very highly rated, whenever you hear people speaking about him they always have good things to say, and he showed what he can do at Burnley.
“He’s an England international and he’s still only young as well, so it’s more of a long-term investment.
“It might depend on his future at Man City, if they are willing to let him go then he’s going to be a top target for Tottenham, but it’s still in their hands.”
What next for Guglielmo Vicario after Spurs transfer plan
Spurs’ interest in Trafford comes amid ongoing doubts over the future of Vicario, who is growing increasingly likely to leave North London this summer.
Brown told Football Insider on 24 February that Vicario is considering his future at Tottenham and could be tempted to make a move back to his home country Italy.
Interest from the likes of Inter Milan and Juventus is expected to turn the goalkeeper’s head as Spurs continue to battle against relegation from the Premier League.

This comes after Football Insider revealed that Tottenham have opened the door for Vicario’s exit as Inter joined the race to tempt him back to Italy.
His underwhelming performances which have contributed to Spurs’ ongoing struggles this season have led to widespread criticism, and he could now be replaced.
