FSG to green light Liverpool spending spree in January – Keith Wyness
Everton’s former chief Keith Wyness has insisted Liverpool owners Fenway Sports Group will free up big funds for the January transfer window.
Speaking on the new edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, the 66-year-old – who served as CEO at Goodison Park between 2004 and 2009 and now runs a football consultancy advising elite clubs – suggested reinforcements are needed to help bring home the Premier League title in the 2024-25 campaign.
Arne Slot’s side sit top of the Premier League after 12 games and have already pulled out an eight-point lead to Man City.
That is despite Federico Chiesa being the only permanent arrival at Liverpool in the summer window.
The Reds are also top of the league table in the Champions League and beat champions Real Madrid 2-0 at home on Wednesday (27 November).
Liverpool to spend big in January, says Wyness
Wyness insisted a Premier League title would “increase the value of the club immensely”.
He told Football Insider‘s Insider Track podcast: “Liverpool have been able to read these injury problems well, but I do expect Arne Slot to talk to his sporting directors ahead of January.
“They’ll decide what’s needed in terms of insurance policies for their bigger players or any strengthening which is required.
“When you’ve got an eight-point lead, they’ll be looking at it like a golfer – you want to play it safe and hit every green.

“It’s Liverpool’s to lose. They should be investing to bring it home, because we all know what the Premier League title means.
“There will be room for Fenway to do that, and I think they will do it. It also increases the value of the club immensely, winning a title.”
