Fulham star Calvin Bassey responds to Darwin Nunez exit update at Liverpool
Darwin Nunez’s latest exit update at Liverpool caught the attention of star Fulham defender Calvin Bassey on social media.
The Uruguayan faces an uncertain future at Anfield this summer after being unable to convince Arne Slot of his abilities in the final third, starting just eight Premier League matches last season.
Mohamed Salah, Luis Diaz, Cody Gakpo, and the late Diogo Jota were the usual suspects for the Dutchman’s forward line, often seeing their South American teammate emerge as a substitute.
Mick Brown now tells Football Insider that Liverpool plan to accept a cut-price fee for Nunez, which would bring an end to the 26-year-old’s three-season spell on Merseyside since joining from Benfica.
In addition to the update, Fabrizio Romano has weighed in on the striker’s situation, especially after the news that Football Insider understands that Liverpool have launched a £130million bid for Alexander Isak.

Darwin Nunez set to leave Liverpool
Taking to Instagram (15 July), Romano wrote: “UPDATE: Darwin Nunez still plans to leave Liverpool… while Napoli deal has collapsed.
“Napoli have just informed Liverpool tonight that the deal for Darwin Nunez can be considered off as they’ll sign [Lorenzo] Lucca,” with Fulham’s Bassey liking the journalist’s update.
The transfer specialist continued to report that Saudi Pro League clubs are keeping tabs on the Uruguayan, with the Reds wanting to sign a new striker, such as Alexander Isak or Hugo Ekitike.
Arne Slot readies Alexander Isak deal
Football Insider verdict
The Reds may have been handed a boost in their quest to sign the Sweden international because, while there are no signs of unhappiness from the striker, the Newcastle United star’s contract situation is a little tricky.
No major movements have been made over a new deal for Isak, with previous talks shelved a year ago at St James’ Park, and a move to Anfield would almost certainly see his wage increase exponentially.
Working with the likes of Salah, Florian Wirtz, Alexis Mac Allister, and Dominik Szoboszlai will be extremely tempting, but Eddie Howe’s side will need a replacement before even considering letting him go.
Despite multiple big-money deals already going through, speaking to Liverpool News 247 (15 July), Kieran Maguire squashed any concerns over the PSR situation at Anfield.

A player that Slot’s side are interested in as well, Hugo Ekitike, is a huge target for multiple clubs in the Premier League, and has already been the subject of a huge offer from the Magpies.
That was swiftly rejected by Eintracht Frankfurt, but all of these signs would point towards a switching of clubs for Isak, and that will be music to the ears of those at Anfield.
While many fans have come to love Nunez, not for his talent but his incredible passion and work rate, he has not been able to hit the heights expected of him, and is likely to be moved on due to that.
