‘Game over’ – Dundee United fans all say the same thing about Jim Goodwin being sacked
Dundee United fans have called for Jim Goodwin to be sacked after their 2-1 defeat to Falkirk in the Scottish Cup on Friday.
With the Tangerines all but ensured to remain in the bottom six post-split, there was a real hope that the Scottish Premiership club could progress into the semi-finals and potentially win a trophy this season.
However, it was yet another poor display from Dundee United, who have now only won one of their last five matches in all competitions.
As a result, with Goodwin already under heavy pressure, fans have now called for the manager to be dismissed.
Dundee United fans want Jim Goodwin sacked
Dundee United’s decline from the previous campaign has been huge.
Last season, the Tangerines qualified for Europe after finishing fourth, and were only five points off third.
Yet, the club now look a completely different side, much to the frustration of the supporters.
In this campaign, Dundee United were quickly eliminated from the Europa Conference League qualifiers, as well as the Premier Sports Cup, the latter of which they went out in just the second round.

Going into the Falkirk match on Friday, the Scottish Cup was essentially the only thing the club had to play for, with relegation highly unlikely.
However, the game was essentially decided in the first 21 minutes as the hosts took a quickfire 2-0 lead.
While Julius Eskesen managed to pull a goal back just before the break, the damage was already done, and the visitors simply could not find an equaliser.
Now, supporters are unwilling to tolerate this decline any further and took to X to demand that Goodwin’s reign come to an end.
Can’t be many that want him to stay. Poor for so long now with no signs of him knowing how to stop the rot. It’s an awful watch and some players look like they want out. Our season is over and it’s time for him to go now or at end of season at the latest. Time for a club reset

Lack of accountability is so frustrating. I’d have alot more respect for him if he had come out and said he got it wrong by starting the 343 and the way the team is set up. If he doesn’t play 3 in the middle in the remaining games then we be as well no turning up. Too stubborn.

What did Goodwin say after the Falkirk defeat?
While Dundee United were not the favourites for the Scottish Cup clash, the defeat is still bitterly disappointing.
The Tangerines proved that they could overcome the Scottish Premiership side at the Falkirk Stadium only in February, when they won 3-2.
As a result, Goodwin was obviously disappointed that they could not oversee a repeat of this result in Friday’s defeat.
When speaking to BBC Sport on 6 March, the manager highlighted how packed Dundee United’s fixture list has been in recent weeks as a potential reason behind the sub-par performance.

He said: “We’re all bitterly disappointed to go out of the competition at this stage.
“I don’t want to be making any excuses but we’ve had nine games in five weeks and we could have done without the St Mirren game three days before a Firday night game. Add to that we’ve had key players suspended but it’s a really disappointing outcome but you ca’t afford to start like we did.
“We wont allow the season to peter out. We have a big job to close the gap on Falkirk but we’ll not give up on that.
“We’ll recover from tonight but we have a big game coming up next week, a local derby that’s important to our supporters.
“The fans have every right to be disappointed. It’s three years I’ve been here and we’ve had relative success and they want the team to be in the top six. We’re very disappointed in our league position and they have every right to voice their disappointment.”
