Garry Monk provides boastful Twitter message following Leeds win against Brentford

Garry Monk has stated on Twitter that Leeds have “real confidence” and will “fight till the end” following their 1-0 win over Brentford at Elland Road on Saturday afternoon.

Centre-back Kyle Bartley headed in a late goal to give the Whites a valuable three points in their push for promotion this season.

Monk’s side currently sit in a play-off spot after 22 games, as they have recorded four wins in their last five league fixtures.

After the game former Premier League manager Monk posted this message to supporters on his personal Twitter account.

Championship giants Leeds have not tasted top-flight football in 12 years, but since Monk’s arrival in the summer he has guided them to promotion challengers.

The former Swansea manager has helped the club to fifth place in the table as they have recorded 38 points from 22 games.

This despite working with a young squad and working under the ownership of the much criticised Massimo Cellino, who has sacked six managers since buying the club in April 2014.

Striker Chris Wood, who missed the Brentford fixture through injury, has been a huge success behind that surge up the table.

The New Zealand international has scored 11 goals in 21 Championship games, netting 14 overall in all competitions this term.

Monk’s side will take on Preston North End on Boxing Day, before travelling to the Midlands for a mouth-watering tie against Aston Villa, three days later.
