Gary Lineker delivers verdict on Liverpool after win against Tottenham

By Amir Mir

Gary Lineker believes Liverpool “look a different proposition” with Sadio Mane in their side following their win against Tottenham on Saturday.

The 24-year-old was the difference maker at Anfield as his two quick-fire goals early in the first half helped his team secure a valuable three points.

Mane had missed a big chunk of January due to his commitments at the Africa Cup of Nations with his home country Senegal.

During his time away, the Reds were knocked out of the EFL Cup, FA Cup and lost a home match to league strugglers Swansea.

After Mane had helped his team to victory, former England striker Lineker had this to say about the attacking ace as posted on his personal Twitter account.

“Liverpool look a different proposition with Mané back in the side,” said Lineker. “2 points currently separate 2nd from 6th.”

Mane has played 24 Premier League and EFL Cup matches for the Reds this term, scoring an impressive 11 goals and supplying seven assists.

All of his goals have come in the league, where he has found the back of the net against the likes of Arsenal, Premier League champions Leicester and Everton.

As a result of his performances, Jurgen Klopp’s side are fourth in the league table on 49 points from their 25 games.

The Merseyside club can drop out of the top four if fifth-placed Manchester City pick up a point against Bournemouth on Monday night.
