Gary O’Neil: Significant update on Wolves sack today – Insider
Gary O’Neil is under growing sack pressure at Wolves and will need to turn results around soon to avoid losing his job.
This is according to former Aston Villa, Man United and West Ham scout Mick Brown, who remains very well-connected within the game, as he exclusively told Football Insider that the boss will be under pressure “until they start winning”.
Wolves are currently placed 19th in the Premier League and are without a win from their first nine games of the season, having lost seven games and drawn two.
They have also conceded 25 goals in that time, and have conceded two or more goals in seven consecutive games across all competitions.
While results have not necessarily reflected some impressive performances, Brown has insisted there is only so long you can wait until you need to pick up points.
Last time out, O’Neil’s side mounted a late fightback to secure a 2-2 draw away at Brighton, having been two goals down in the 87th minute.
However, this only added to a growing list of performances which, despite leaving many impressed, have failed to secure a win for his team.
With a game against Crystal Palace at Molineux on 2 November, there is a growing feeling that another defeat could see the manager dismissed of his duties.

Brown previously told Football Insider that David Moyes could be in line to take over at Molineux should they pull the trigger as he would sort out their defensive issues.
Now, the former scout who has a wealth of experience working with under-pressure managers at the top level, has insisted that O’Neil must turn results around regardless of the performances and style of play.
“O’Neil will be under pressure until they start winning,” he told Football Insider.
“When you’re at the bottom of the table, it’s all well and good to say you want to keep playing football, but you can’t do that if you keep losing games.
“The first thing is to stop losing games, it doesn’t matter how you do it.
“Sticking to a certain style could be his downfall because nothing will change.
“Whenever I watch Wolves, they don’t play badly, but they still lose. That’s a bad sign.
“They concede so many goals, and I know when you’re in that position everything seems to go wrong, but there’s only so long you can blame bad luck.
“A few weeks ago, O’Neil was the best thing since sliced bread, and I think he’s a good manager, but if they don’t see something change soon they could pull the trigger.”
