Gibbs-White reacts to Nottingham Forest snub amid Man City, Arsenal talk

Morgan Gibbs-White has sent a message to Nottingham Forest after the club excluded him from saying goodbye amid speculation around his future.

The attacking midfielder enjoyed an excellent campaign as Nuno Espirito Santo‘s side qualified for the UEFA Conference League and reached the semi finals of the FA Cup, leading to interest from elsewhere.

In the lead up to the summer transfer window, Man City were credited with an interest in Gibbs-White as they looked to replace the departing Kevin De Bruyne.

Late last month though, Football Insider was told that Arsenal have turned their attention to the Nottingham Forest star in their search for reinforcements.

There have also been suggestions that Tottenham could pursue Gibbs-White, with Man City having already moved for other attacking midfield options such as Rayan Cherki and Tijjani Reijnders.

Nuno Espirito Santo may be nervous about the summer transfer window

Morgan Gibbs-White misses out on Harry Toffolo farewell

One player who has already been confirmed to be leaving the City Ground this summer is Harry Toffolo, with the left-back set to move on when his contract expires.

Gibbs-White has already tribute to Toffolo ahead of his departure from the club, but has been denied the chance to do so again.

On Monday (16 June), Nottingham Forest shared a video to their Instagram page showing the left-back watchng video tributes to him from several of his teammates at The City Ground.

However, Gibbs-White was not among those to feature, and the 25-year-old was quick to notice that opportunity.

Commenting on that post from the club, the England international wrote: “Thanks for asking me to do one.”

That was then accompanied by a laughing face emoji, apparently suggesting humorous sarcasm in that response.

Nottingham Forest will be desperate to keep their star man

Football Insider Verdict

He may have been overlooked by the club when it comes to this series of video tributes, but you can be sure the club will still be desperate to hold on to Gibbs-White.

This season showed that Nuno’s side do have the potential to achieve some significant success, and they may well fancy their chances in the Conference League in particular.

English clubs have already enjoyed success in that tournament, and Gibbs-White’s talent will be crucial to any hopes they have both at home and abroad, having proven so influential recently.

To do that though, Nottingham Forest will have to stand strong in the wake of any bids for him this summer, which could be difficult given this interest from elsewhere.

It will therefore be interesting to see if Gibbs-White is soon watching a series of video tributes from his teammates at the club himself in the near future.
