Gibbs-White responds to Nottingham Forest player’s message as exit confirmed
Morgan Gibbs-White thanked one of his Nottingham Forest team-mates after an emotional departure from the City Ground.
Forest have fought tooth and nail to keep hold of Gibbs-White this summer after Tottenham tabled a £60million bid for the midfielder on 10 July which Evangelos Marinakis has declared as an illegal move.
Football Insider revealed last month that Manchester City had ended their own interest in Gibbs-White prior to the Club World Cup, but Forest are now locked in a potential legal battle with Spurs for his future.
Tottenham remain confident that Gibbs-White will move to North London with over six weeks still to run in the summer transfer window, and Forest’s next move will be one to watch ahead of the new season.

Nottingham Forest stars farewell Hennessey after announcement
Forest have already lost one quarter of last season’s ultra-effective front four after Anthony Elanga completed a £55m move to Newcastle United, and permanent exits have continued at the City Ground.
Wayne Hennessey had returned to Forest in January after his initial release last summer, but after he failed to add to his nine appearances in all competitions for the Reds, the Welshman has called it a day.
Hennessey announced his retirement from football in an emotional message on Instagram after spells at Wolves, Bristol City, Stockport, Yeovil, Crystal Palace, Burnley and Forest, as well as 109 caps for Wales.
The 38-year-old’s post on 16 July included images aplenty from across his club and international career, and Gibbs-White left a heartfelt comment of: “What a guy. Thank you for your belief and guidance”.
Nottingham Forest fight to prevent Gibbs-White transfer
Football Insider Verdict
Given all of Hennessey’s nine appearances for the Reds came in the 2022–23 season, some Forest fans may not have even noticed that the Welsh goalkeeper was still on the books at the City Ground.
The same can’t be said for Nuno‘s squad, however, as they lose the “guidance” of a senior figure in the dressing room, and supporters will hope that Gibbs-White can grow further into a leadership role himself.
Forest have identified Aston Villa’s Jacob Ramsey as a potential replacement for Gibbs-White should the worst happen, but Nuno and Marinakis will be in no mood to even entertain the prospect of losing their talisman.
