Glasgow pundit doesn’t trust Rangers boss Michael Beale after what he’s heard – ‘this won’t go down well’
Rangers should not trust Michael Beale.
That is according to former Celtic striker Frank McAvennie, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about the new manager’s appointment.
Last month (20 October), this site revealed that the 42-year-old had been in advanced talks to be the new Wolves manager.
The then QPR boss ultimately turned down the move.
Speaking to club media (20 October), Beale cited his “integrity” and “loyalty” as his reason for staying at the Championship club.
On 28 November, the Light Blues confirmed the appointment of the 42-year-old as manager of the club, just over a month after reaffirming his commitment to QPR.
McAvennie has not been impressed by what he has seen from Beale so far.
“I do not trust the guy,” he told Football Insider.
“That is the first thing I would do, not trust him. Good coaches do not make good managers.
“From what I hear he is one of the best coaches out there. But as a manager, you have got all the weight of the world on your shoulders. This is his first managerial job. He was in the door 15 minutes at QPR.

“When you are coach and you are pals with the players, you can’t do that as a manager. Players are going to expect that again and he will have to be distant from them. This might not go down too well.
“If he does not like pressure he has gone to the wrong place.“
