Glasgow pundit expects Morelos to be ‘dropped’ by Rangers after ‘massive’ development
Frank McAvennie insists Alfredo Morelos’ recent landmark goal will not save him from the axe at Rangers.
The former Celtic hitman, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, told the Columbian he must keep scoring to stay in the side.
Morelos, 25, has scored seven goals in 19 outings this season after notching 17 times during last year’s campaign.

His most recent goal was his 100th in the Light Blue of Rangers.
However, before he reached that milestone, Steven Gerrard had openly criticised his star striker.
As quoted by BBC Sport (20 October), Gerrard slammed Morelos’ goal record this season as “not enough”.
The striker failed to score in Sunday’s 6-1 win over Motherwell while his strike partner Fashion Sakala bagged a hattrick.
Glasgow-based McAvennie insists Gerrard will not hesitate to drop Morelos if he keeps blanking.
“It’s obviously impressive. It’s a massive boost to him but to Gerrard, it means nothing,” McAvennie told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.
“He’s still not scored enough goals this season. Gerrard knows it, I know it, he knows it. He’s underperformed.
“That record won’t save him if he goes another four or five games without scoring.
“He has a load of players breathing down his neck as well. The only way to stay in the side as a striker is to score goals.
“Record or not, he will be dropped if he doesn’t keep scoring.”

Sakala’s hattrick means he has now scored four league goals for Rangers.
He joined the club on a free transfer from KV Oostende in the summer.
