Glasgow pundit shreds Malik Tillman as controversial Rangers footage analysed
Frank McAvennie has claimed Malik Tillman shouldn’t have even been on the pitch when he scored for Rangers against Partick Thistle on Sunday (12 February).
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Celtic striker said Michael Beale has tried to explain the situation that enabled Tillman, 20, to score a controversial goal.
As shown on Viaplay Sports (12 February), the Gers had kicked the ball out of play to allow Tillman, who had gone down, to receive treatment for an injury.
As Thistle’s Kevin Holt prepared to return the ball to the home side, the USA international nicked the ball off Holt and scored, causing a melee between both sets of players.
Beale’s side ultimately allowed the visitors to score from kick off and even the playing field once again.
The Light Blues went on to win the game 3-2 and progress to the Scottish Cup quarter-finals.
When asked for his assessment of the incident, McAvennie told Football Insider: “I think Michael Beale came out and tried to explain it too much and he confused it more than anything.

“First of all Tillman went down injured. He should have got treatment but he didn’t. He should have gone off the pitch to be brought back on again.
“Michael Beale said he didn’t see them kick it out but he should not have been on the pitch anyway. The referee just made a complete hash of it.“
In other news, according to sources, Rangers are well placed to sign Norwich City star Angus Gunn.
