Goalkeeper who’s said goodbye to Liverpool has now found new club after Premier League offers

Harry Lee-Frith has found a new club after turning down several offers, weeks after he announced his departure from Liverpool.

The Reds’ goalkeeping situation has been a spot of contention, with long-term number one Alisson suffering from several concerning injuries each season.

The Brazilian has now returned after missing a month of action with a hamstring injury, but decision-makers have already begun drawing up succession plans.

25-year-old Giorgi Mamardashvili signed for Liverpool in 2024, but spent his first year out on loan with his former club Valencia.

His arrival cleared the path for Caoimhin Kelleher to leave Liverpool to join Brentford in the summer, after impressing in Alisson‘s absence.

Harry Lee-Frith makes future decision

In December, Under-16 goalkeeper Lee-Frith announced on social media that he would be leaving Liverpool.

The 15-year-old had trained with the U18s and U21s this season and saved a penalty in one of his final appearances for the U16s.

In a post made to Instagram, he explained that it was time to say goodbye after over seven years with the Reds, thanking the staff and coaches.

“I am grateful for the opportunities, experiences, and relationships formed along the way,” Lee-Frith wrote. “I now look forward to the next chapter in my football career”.

And that chapter appears as if it will be with League One club Stockport County, as reported by The Talent Hunter on Instagram.

Including Premier League and Championship clubs, Lee-Frith received 23 offers from various clubs with different facilities.

But the 15-year-old ultimately decided to sign for Stockport due to the pathway to the first team presented by head of recruitment Ryan Grocott.

Who will Lee-Frith hope to surpass at Stockport County?

Ben Hinchliffe is Stockport’s current number one – the 37-year-old has started the last 16 consecutive League One fixtures after ousting 28-year-old Corey Addai.

Max Metcalfe, 22, is a younger option, but the shot-stopper is yet to make an appearance for the Hatters this season.

In 2024, Stockport signed talented young goalkeeper Andrew Wogan from Drogheda United, with the Ireland youth international spending several stints on loan since.

He may well ultimately be Lee-Frith’s main competition in the future, as the young goalkeeper attempts to gain himself a starting role in the coming years.
