Goldson has ‘made mind up’ on Rangers future after ‘staggering’ reveal – pundit

Connor Goldson may have “made up his mind” on a potential Rangers exit after his comments following a semi-final defeat against Hibernian on Sunday, according to Noel Whelan.

The former Leeds striker, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, claimed the 28-year-old has “thrown in the towel” at Ibrox.

As quoted by talkSPORT after the Hibs loss (November 22nd), Goldson claimed the Rangers squad had “lost a bit of hunger” after their title triumph last season.

He also accused some teammates of thinking “they don’t need to work as hard” after their Scottish Premiership win.

Goldson, 28, is out of contract at the end of the season and revealed last month he had not spoken to his agent recently about a new deal.

The English centre-back has only missed two Rangers games since the start of last season.

Whelan insisted the former Brighton man’s comments post-match won’t have endeared him to any potential suitors.

“It seems to me that if he’s coming out with those comments, then maybe he’s made up his mind on what he wants already,” he told Football Insider‘s Ewan Kingsbury.

“Even another manager taking on Goldson now, hearing those quotes will not be great – it definitely won’t endear him to anyone, at Rangers or otherwise.

“You want leaders, and you want people who you can be down in the trenches with – it sounds like he has thrown the towel in already.

“It’s absolutely staggering to hear that from Goldson.”

Rangers

Rangers hold a four-point advantage over rivals Celtic in the Scottish Premiership after 13 games.

The pair meet at the beginning of January.
