Graeme Murty: This is Rangers aim Old Firm clash v Celtic

Graeme Murty has been discussing Rangers’ forthcoming trip to Celtic Park in the second Old Firm match of the season and is aiming to get a shock result.

The Gers were easily defeated 2-0 by their Glasgow rivals back in September, and currently trail them by 11 points in the Scottish Premiership table.

Despite this, Murty’s aim is to get a result ahead of the upcoming winter break.

As quoted by Rangers’ official Twitter account, the manager believes that his side can give a good account of themselves at Celtic Park.

“It’s always massive to play your rivals and go and get a result”, he said. “The aim is to get a result and take that into the winter break.”

Murty does have experience in going to Celtic Park and getting an unlikely result, last season in his last game as  interim manager before the appointment of Pedro Caixinha the Gers pulled off an unlikely 1-1 draw thanks to a late equaliser by Clint Hill.

Murty has had an indifferent series of results since become firstly Rangers interim manager and now permanent manager since the October sacking of Pedro Caixinha.

Two wins over Aberdeen and a win over Hearts have been followed by defeats to the likes of Kilmarnock, Hamilton and Dundee.

Their most recent result was a 2-0 win over Motherwell which kept them three points behind second placed Aberdeen.

The unpredictability of a derby game could well suit a very unpredictable Rangers team, although Brendan Rodgers’ side will start as huge favourites for the game.
