‘Graham Potter to leave Mavropanos at Everton’ – West Ham fans rage after draw
West Ham fans have placed the blame on Konstantinos Mavropanos’ shoulders after Everton stole a point at Goodison Park on Saturday.
Graham Potter looked set for his fourth Premier League victory since taking over at the London Stadium on 15 March, having already beaten Fulham, Arsenal and Leicester City in recent weeks.
It was Tomas Soucek who haunted his former manager David Moyes, firing home after great work from Jarrod Bowen down the left flank, who fired a cross into the middle for someone to latch onto.
The Hammers had tasted defeat in their last league outing, losing 1-0 to Newcastle United, who are up against Liverpool this weekend, on Monday 10 March, but it looked as though all three points would be heading home with them.
That was until Potter made a couple of substitutions in the final stages at Goodison Park, and despite the experienced Aaron Cresswell sitting on the bench, the manager chose to keep Mavropanos on the pitch.
Konstantinos Mavropanos loses Jake O’Brien for Everton equaliser
Despite playing a back-three of Mavropanos, Jean-Clair Todibo and Max Kilman, the Toffees created plenty of chances and finally made the most of one of them, equalising in the first minute of added time.
Four minutes had been added on for stoppages, and that meant only 180 seconds remained to hold out for three points, but the Hammers could not even manage that away from home.
O’Brien ghosted into the middle of the six-yard box, ready to fire home as Idrissa Gueye rocketed a cross into the area, and the lacklustre marking has sent supporters crazy after dropping another two points.

Graham Potter left with plenty to prove after West Ham draw
West Ham were absolutely dominated in the final 15 minutes, with Moyes turning on the afterburners in an attempt to grab a goal back, and that is exactly what happened.
While many of the defenders were stood like statues as O’Brien wheeled off in celebration, it is Mavropanos who has taken most of the abuse from West Ham supporters, who are ready for him to leave.
One supporter has asked to be convinced that the Greek international is a “professional footballer” while another branded him the “worst defender” in the club’s history, and others asked for him to be left with former boss Moyes at Everton. Ouch.
