Gravenberch, Kluivert react to Jeremie Frimpong’s message after Liverpool deal
Ryan Gravenberch and Justin Kluivert are among those that have reacted to Jeremie Frimpong’s message to Liverpool fans after his recent move from Bayer Leverkusen.
Liverpool are not looking to rest on their laurels in the wake of their relatively comfortable Premier League title win in Arne Slot’s debut season in charge, with a busy summer transfer window already underway.
The Reds were always anticipating needing to bring in a new right-back this summer, and with Trent Alexander-Arnold’s exit confirmed at the start of May, Slot turned his attention to a new signing in that position the form of Netherlands international Frimpong.
The speedy Leverkusen man joined the champions in a deal believed to be worth up to €35million (£29.6m) [The Athletic] on 30 May, as Liverpool announced his arrival just hours after they had confirmed that Alexander-Arnold would be moving to Real Madrid.
He will be officially linking up with his new teammates at the start of July, but has taken the time to further connect with supporters during the off-season after initially penning a message to Liverpool fans when his signing from Leverkusen was confirmed.

Gravenberch and Kluivert react to Frimpong’s ‘ready’ message as Liverpool debut nears
Liverpool’s first pre-season friendly sees them take on Championship side Preston North End on 13 July, so it is now just under a month until Reds fans will likely get to see their new man in action for the first time.
He has already been in action since leaving Leverkusen, with 90 minutes for the Netherlands national team as they won 2-0 against Finland on 7 June to get their World Cup qualifying campaign underway well.
The 24-year-old has been active on social media too, during a period in which he is likely enjoying rest before pre-season at his new club starts next month, and he took to Instagram on Tuesday (17 June) to post a message to Liverpool supporters, saying: “ready for what’s next” alongside a rollercoaster emoji.
His message was reacted to by a number of his teammates at club and international level, with Gravenberch, Kluivert and new Man City signing Tijjani Reijnders all liking the post.
Nottingham Forest winger Callum Hudson-Odoi and Aston Villa man Emi Buendia also followed suit, with both having previously alongside Frimpong at Leverkusen.

Football Insider verdict
Frimpong is an ideal signing for Liverpool as they look to replace a player of Alexander-Arnold’s stature and talent, with the England star having been a key man for his boyhood club since he emerged as a first-team starter back in 2017.
With that said, it will certainly not be easy for the 24-year-old to immediately have the same impact on Arne Slot’s starting eleven heading into next season.

The Reds’ new arrival moved to England from the Netherlands with his family when he was seven years-old, and was a product of Manchester City’s academy before he joined Celtic in 2019.
He never made a senior appearance for the Citizens, and is yet to ever play in the Premier League, having spent two years with the Glasgow giants before moving on to Leverkusen in 2021.
It can always be tough for a player to adapt to a new league, so it may take him some time to adjust to his new surroundings on Merseyside, but he will be buoyed by the Reds’ transfer business with ex-teammate Florian Wirtz set to follow him at Anfield in a deal worth £100m soon.
