Hannibal Mejbri: ‘Perfect’ claim issued after key Man United development – pundit
Noel Whelan has insisted Erik ten Hag is the “perfect” manager to get the best out of the likes of Hannibal Mejbri at Man United.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Leeds striker hailed the Dutchman’s focus on youth development and suggested it could have a big impact on the likes of the 19-year-old.
Manchester United confirmed on Thursday (21 April) that Ten Hag, who is currently Ajax boss, will take over as manager this summer.

The 52-year-old started his post-playing career in a role overseeing FC Twente’s academy.
He has a proven record of impressive youth development during his managerial spells.
Whelan suggested his appointment can only be good news for Hannibal and the rest of the club’s academy products.
“Hannibal came on against Liverpool and was one that showed aggression, determination and passion,” Whelan told Football Insider’s Russell Edge.
“I don’t mind that. He wasn’t afraid to put his foot in and just ruffle a few feathers. He showed that upsetness about the game and that passion you need, that desire.
“Look, Ten Hag’s perfect for the club in many, many ways. We know how important the youth system has been for Man United in the past.
“When they had that success, that came from their youth development system. It was that golden era with Beckham, the Nevilles, Scholes and Butt.
“The fact Ten Hag holds youth development in such high regard is an absolute plus for the Manchester United youth system. I’m sure he will take a lot of pleasure and pride in and around it as well himself.”
Hannibal made his first senior appearance of the season in Wednesday’s 4-0 defeat to Liverpool.
He has two first-team appearances under his belt so far.
