‘It’s getting harder and harder’ – Scott Brown makes Celtic Christmas admission

Celtic captain Scott Brown has admitted the difficulties of leaving his family at Christmas to play football.

The Hoops have a total of nine games in December, the next on Boxing Day against Dundee, meaning that Brown and his team-mates have to spend Christmas Day training then travelling to Dundee.

As quoted by Celtic’s website, the Scotland international knows that these are the sacrifices footballers have to make to have a long career.

“Everyone loves Christmas and New Year as a time to go out and enjoy themselves but for us it’s getting harder and harder as we have so many games to focus on” he said.

“We have nine in December and we always have to make sure we are on it. You are in training and everything is to 100 per cent, the way the gaffer wants it.”

Brown has played all of the matches so far in December, a month which saw the Hoops’ unbeaten domestic run end at a record 69 games but they increased their lead over Aberdeen at the top of the Scottish Premiership to 11 points.

The Bhoys also clinched a place in the last 32 of the Europa League, despite losing 1-0 to Anderlecht.

The captain was part of the Hoops side which defeated Aberdeen 3-0 in the top of the table clash on Saturday.

Goals from Mikael Lustig, Jonny Hayes and Olivier Ntcham ensured that the Hoops would stay clear at the top of the league.

The upcoming match against Dundee is the third between the sides so far this season, the Hoops winning 4-0 at Dens Park in the Betfred Cup quarter-final and winning 1-0 at Celtic Park in the Scottish Premiership.
