Harry Kane cited as Liverpool star ‘edges closer to move’

Trent Alexander-Arnold is expected to follow in Harry Kane’s footsteps and choose to commit his future abroad rather than re-sign with Liverpool.

Speaking on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, former Tottenham goalkeeper Paul Robinson believes the right-back’s future will depend on “what the players desire is for his career path.”

The 26-year-old is out of contract at Anfield after this season, and Football Insider revealed that he is interested in joining Real Madrid.

The England international will be free to negotiate with foreign clubs from January, and could even sign a pre-contract agreement if a deal is reached.

Alexander-Arnold wouldn’t be the first Englishman to make the move abroad, with this becoming a popular option in modern times.

The likes of Harry Kane, Jude Bellingham, and Angelo Gomes have chosen to play for foreign teams to progress their careers rather than committing to the Premier League.

Football Insider revealed that Alexander-Arnold’s England teammate Bellingham is expected to play a role in any potential deal with Real Madrid due to their friendship off the pitch.

Trent Alexander-Arnold could follow his England teammates abroad and leave Liverpool

They’re proving that under Arne Slot,” Robinson told Football Insider.

“The way that they’re playing, the way that they’re winning games.

“Yes, you want to be playing at the best, you want to be playing at the top of the Premier League.

“Liverpool competing in the Premier League, competing in the Champions League, you would argue where’s better to play.

“If he’s his head turned with the likes of Real Madrid, the likes of Barcelona, you put Liverpool in that bracket, you want to be playing at that level.

“If he’s got ambitions to fulfil, to play elsewhere, it then comes down to what the players desire is for his career path.

“And you look at Harry Kane at Bayern Munich and he’s seen other English footballers going abroad and that may be something he wants to do.

“It’s looking more and more likely that his future may lie elsewhere. He’s edging closer to a move.”
