Harry Kane cited as Man United work on deal to sign another striker after Sky update – pundit

Alan Hutton has insisted Anthony Martial will have to “fight” for his place at Man United.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Tottenham and Aston Villa defender said it is going to be difficult for Martial to play every game when United sign another striker.

As quoted by Sky Sports (7 January), Red Devils boss Erik ten Hag said his side are looking to bring in another striker in January because they can’t rely on Martial, 27, to play every game.

Man United

The Dutchman admitted that the attacker is struggling to manage the workload required of him and insisted he can’t play 90 minutes every game.

United have been linked with Burnley’s Wout Weghorst, currently on loan at Besiktas as well as Tottenham’s Harry Kane.

When asked what Martial’s role will be if Ten Hag signs another striker, Hutton told Football Insider:He has to fight it out with whoever comes in.

If we are talking about someone of the standard of Harry Kane, for talking’s sake, if that is the standard that we are talking and he is going to play week in week out then it is going to be difficult for him [Martial].

Man United

That is the challenge that is going to be set.

He is at Man United there is going to be competition for places so he is going to have to deal with that and show that he is worthy of playing week in week out.

In other news, according to Kieran Maguire, Man United have just banked £5m-plus amid news from Singapore.
