Harry Kane could pen new Tottenham deal after Antonio Conte reveal – Hutton

Alan Hutton has suggested Harry Kane will be willing to put pen to paper on a new contract with Tottenham after a successful summer transfer window.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Spurs and Aston Villa defender said Kane will be happier knowing the team can “go and compete” for the first time in recent years.

The 29-year-old has started every game for the Lilywhites this season, including the 2-1 win over newly promoted Fulham on Saturday (3 September).

The England captain scored his fifth goal of the season in the 2-1 victory.

As quoted by Football.London (29 August), Antonio Conte said the striker is an “important player for Tottenham” but insisted he does not know if he has been offered a new contract.

The Italian boss said everyone at the club wants Kane to stay and sign a new deal.

The centre-forward currently has two years remaining on his contract.

Hutton said Kane will be happier at the London club now that he feels they are more competitive.

The whole thing with him was he wanted to have that feeling that he had a squad that can go and compete,” he told Football Insider‘s Charlotte Cohen.

He’s probably been thinking, in recent years, that he’s not quite had that, it’s not quite been there. Now, with the recruitment that’s been put in place, he can probably feel that Tottenham can actually do something this season.
