Harry Kane makes bold claim about Tottenham, fans will love this

Harry Kane has revealed that he believes Tottenham should be winning a trophy every season.

The England striker has claimed in an interview with GQ magazine that Spurs have come a long way in a short period of time, and that it’s right to raise expectations at White Hart Lane.

Tottenham are currently second in the Premier League but are nine points behind runaway league leaders Chelsea, however they are still in contention to win this season’s FA Cup and Europa League.

It’s a bold claim as the last trophy Tottenham won was the 2007/08 League Cup, but it shows how far Mauricio Pochettino has brought them.

“In previous years everyone knew we could win a league or a cup, but no-one really expected us to,” Kane said. “I think now, like you say, if we don’t it will be a disappointing season, so I think that shows how far we’ve come as a team and as a group. And as a club as well.

“Of course we want to win, we want to win every title we can, but yeah, we’re in three competitions, the FA Cup, Europa and the Premier League, and we want to come away with at least one of them.”

Tottenham’s calendar for February is full of critical fixtures for the club if they are to win anything this season.

A testing Premier League clash away to Liverpool on Saturday begins a jam-packed couple of weeks which includes their round of 32 legs against Belgian club KAA Gent and an FA Cup fifth round tie with London rivals Fulham.

Kane leads the Spurs goal scoring charts this season with 16 in all competitions and is joint fifth top scorer in the Premier League with 14. He only played in three of the six Champions League group stage matches through injury, scoring twice.

The 23-year-old has 17 England caps to his name since making his international debut in March 2015.
