Harry Kane highlights crucial Tottenham run that will shape title challenge
By Dominic Toenr
Harry Kane believes that Tottenham face four huge matches that could keep them in the race for the Premier League title.
The 23-year-old has refused to rule Spurs out of the title race despite a 10-point gap behind leaders Chelsea, who have won their last nine consecutive league games.
Kane has highlighted the club’s next four Premier League games as they will have reached the half-way point of the season by the end of them.
The north London club face Hull, Burnley Southampton and Watford as they look to improve on their fifth-placed standing in the table.
Kane, 23, has urged Spurs to build some momentum in the upcoming weeks and compete at the top-end of the table.
“I definitely don’t think we are out of the title run. We were at a similar stage this time last season and this was when we starting putting good results together,” Kane told Sky Sports. “In December and January we picked up a lot of points.
“I think the next four games are very important for us to go and win. That will take us to 19 games, halfway through the season. We’ll see where we are at then and take it from there.”
Spurs start a busy December period with a home match against relegation-threatened Hull on Wednesday and will be looking to respond from a 1-0 defeat against Manchester United on Sunday.
Mauricio Pochettino’s side have been boosted by the return of senior defender Toby Alderweireld and will now be looking to replicate the form that helped them challenge Leicester last season for the title.
Kane has been in great form this campaign and has looked impressive despite an injury setback during September and October.
The striker has made 13 appearances across all competitions and scored nine goals in return.
The England international will now hope to be the catalyst for Spurs and help them break into the top four, with a three-point gap behind Manchester City.
In other Tottenham news, Ledley King claims that these two flops will turn out to be big player for Pochettino.
