Harry Kane: Star wants to quit Tottenham but Bayern not his first choice – sources

Man United is Harry Kane’s preferred destination this summer with Tottenham now open to selling the striker, sources have told Football Insider.

Spurs are ready to part with their talisman, 29, in the final weeks of the window if he doesn’t sign a new contract with the club.

It is believed that has given fresh hope to Man United – who made Kane their number one target and top priority heading into the transfer window.

However, a well-placed source has told Football Insider that the England captain is aware of the difficulty of striking a potential deal with negotiations between Tottenham and United expected to be fraught.

Kane is also wanted by Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich – with manager Thomas Tuchel a long-term admirer of the hitman.

Football Insider revealed on Monday (24 July) that Bayern are preparing to submit a third bid worth nearly £100million after seeing two offers rejected.

The Bundesliga winners are in regular contact with Kane’s camp and believe they have a firm verbal agreement with the player.

However, it is believed he would prefer a move to Man United – where the London-born superstar would have the opportunity to break Alan Shearer’s all-time Premier League scoring record.

Tottenham have also offered Kane a new contract which would not only improve his current £200,000-per-week wages but also make him one of the Premier League’s top earners.

His current deal is set to expire in less than 12 months.

Kane notched 30 goals and three assists in 38 Premier League games last season – a tally bettered only by Man City’s Erling Haaland.
